Naturally unfolding who we are through feeling, and connecting to our life experience are essential processes for achieving emotional health. Feeling our feelings is key to knowing who we are and what we need. It allows us to stay connected to ourselves.

We are born with the ability, and need, to fully express our emotions of joy, fear, rage, hurt, loneliness and grief. It is when we are punished and not allowed to have our feelings as children that we learn to hold and repress them. We learned, out of our helplessness as children, to please our caregiver -most often a parent. This is done, unknowingly, at a great cost to our 'self.'

As a result, we suffer emotionally with unfinished feelings and unmet needs that accumulate throughout childhood and into our adult life. Our unfinished feelings and unmet need drive us unconsciously in destructive and unhealthy ways until we bring our awareness to what is happening.

We are suffering when we are not able to feel our feelings. Holding onto our feelings takes toll on our body and mind. As children we set up defense systems to cope, however they work against us as adults. Click here to read more on Therapy Process...
